International Water Institute staff and partners provide training and serve as a technical resource for River Watch Teams engaged in monitoring their local rivers. Frequency of monitoring is variable, but at least once a month during ice free season.

Water Quality Monitoring in the Red River Basin involves many groups, and is coordinated by the Red River Basin Monitoring Advisory Committee (MAC). Representatives of any entity engaged in water quality monitoring in the Red River Basin are welcome to be involved with the committee. The MAC generally meets every other month in Fertile to discuss and coordinate basin-wide monitoring efforts, equipment procurement and maintenance, training options, data management, quality assurance, and information sharing.
